The Hobbit - Not

I just got back from seeing the Hobbit and I can't remember a movie that I was more disappointed in.  I am sure that much of this disappointment is due to the choices that Peter Jackson made in this movie.  Some of it though is just let down that a movie that had such promise and hype didn't live up to my expectations.  Beyond the visual appeal of the movie, I thought the story was week and at times I couldn't wait for it to be over.

During the Lord of the Rings there were times that I did not agree with some of the choices that Peter Jackson made.  But at least during that Trilogy, he was not just pulling a story out of his ass.  During the Hobbit, he just decided to make up stories that weren't there to make the movie more exciting.  I was skeptical when I heard that they were going to make the story a trilogy and was even more so when I heard that they were creating the character of an female elven warrior to give the story more appeal with the female audience.  That was not even in the first movie so I have more things to look forward to being pissed about if I decided to even see the next movie and that is not a given.  Some of the choices that he made completely changed the characters and not for the better.

Not looking forward to the next installment of this crap.

New Omega Theme For My Site

I spent much of my Holiday Weekend working on reworking the theme for my blog.  There were a couple of reason that I wanted to do this.  One was I was not happy with the way the site looked. The other was I spent some time watching drupalize.me videos on Omega so I had a little bit better idea of how to set things up in Omega.  I have to admit I like the look better now but I was really a pain at times.  Finding node.tpl.php was not straight forward and it took me some time to figure out how to declare the template variable in the node pre-process function instead of putting the code in template.php.  There are some other things I want to do to my blog but this will have to do for now since I have two other sites I need to spend some time on.  At least now I have a better idea of how to make things work in Omega.
